I am currently producing eighteen short video pieces about cities
around the world, including Moscow, for the Venice Architecture
Biennale 2006. The exhibition will focus on urbanism and the forces
the affect the built environment in large cities-- flows of
migration, capital and urbanization. To highlight these flows, I am
working with archival film from the past century and working with
artists and filmmakers from each city to procure contemporary footage.
I will then edit these various textures of film and video into a three minute,
impressionistic collage of each city. I am eager to include as many different voices
of urban audio-visual experience as possible.
Would you be interested in contributing to such an endeavor? I am not
looking for finished works, but rather footage that evokes the
complex urban rhythms of Moscow. I am particularly interested in
images of infrastructure, points of entry (harbors, airports,
streetscapes, etc.) and marketplaces of all kinds. Do you know of
other artists from Moscow whom I should contact (or, for that matter,
in any of the cities listed on the attached document)?
